Death of a mother
Cause: Ruptured appendix, peritonitis
Note: 01/21/2007

01/21/2007
I got an update on Aunt Gertrude's death from her daughter Marge yesterday. Gertrude died in Long Beach, CA at the age of 44 with her daughter, Marge, son, Ralph and brother Herb at her side. Marge and Ralph were 16 and 15 respectively at the time. Marge had forgotten that this was the date. It was a very bad time for her and she tried to put her mother's death out of her mind.

Her death was apparently preventable. Gertrude was experiencing abdominal pain. She took a laxative and applied heat. This caused her appendix to rupture.

I called Marge Conaway-Buckalew today to ask her where her mother was buried. She told me that Gertrude was cremated in California and her ashes were taken to Morden for burial in the Schneider family plot. Elsie paid the costs for cremation and personally carried Gertrude's ashes to Morden.
